Somber Crow: Alex de Bont

Alexander De Bont is a storyteller, and gravitates towards objects that tell stories. Stories can be found in an item's use, the processes that went into making it, and the personal meaning the user places on that piece. The artist strives to make things that have a use, and can be passed throughout the world, building up their own stories and legacies. He finds that forms that have existed for centuries, and have changed so little are testaments to their endurance, and are beautiful in their simplicity. In a time of mass production and over-complication, many objects have lost their way, and no longer bear the mark of the maker's hand, and Somber Crow was created to challenge that.
