STAFF
Rose Shoshana
In 1991 Rose founded ROSEGALLERY, a popular and highly respected space in Los Angeles focused on works which enrich the canon of modern and contemporary photography. ROSEGALLERY has centered its programming both on pictures which tap the rich history of photography, and works that expand the potential of contemporary photo-based art.
Originally from Israel, Rose studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She then began a career in editorial photography, shooting portraits for movie studios and album covers for bands. Rose also produced several films, including the documentary film "The Women of the Georgian Hotel", for which she won an Emmy. Rose has worked with renowned artists and institutions. With the premier Dye Transfer printer Guy Stricherz and the Wilson Centre for Photography [Michael Wilson is another Todi Fellow], she has curated suites and portfolios with William Eggleston, Bruce Davidson, Graciela Iturbide, Evelyn Hofer and Mark Cohen. She is one of the founding members of the Getty Museum’s Photographs Council and has worked with The J. Paul Getty Museum on major exhibitions such as Manuel Álvarez Bravo, William Eggleston, and Graciela Iturbide, and with the Tate Modern for their exhibitions on William Eggleston, Bruce Davidson and Graciela Iturbide.
Rose has published and edited books such as "Ojos en Los Ojos" by Manuel Alvarez Bravo, and Graciela Iturbide’s monograph on Frida Kahlo. Additionally, she has worked with Jo Ann Callis on her monograph, "Early Color".
ROSEGALLERY does not accept unsolicited artist submissions.
