Overview
ROSEGALLERY is pleased to announce a solo presentation of Tania Franco Klein at this year’s edition of Paris Photo. The installation will present a selection of works spanning Franco Klein’s practice, highlighting several key series, including Proceed to the RouteMercado de Sonora, and Break in Case of Emergency, alongside her most recent body of work, RAGE™. This presentation marks the first time RAGE™ will be exhibited outside of Mexico City.

Tania Franco Klein’s multidisciplinary practice examines the psychological and cultural effects of contemporary life, addressing themes of modern anxiety, media overstimulation, identity, and the pressures of self-optimization. With a background in architecture, she creates immersive installations that combine cinematic photographs, murals, and video, situating her work in the space between reality and performance, solitude and spectacle.

In Proceed to the Route, Franco Klein reflects on the disorienting nature of progress and modern navigation, staging anonymous figures in liminal landscapes that evoke exhaustion and detachment despite constant guidance. Mercado de Sonora turns inward to her native Mexico, where her mother and grandmother embody generational memory and belief. Drawing from the infamous Mexico City market where spells, cures, and trafficked animals circulate, Franco Klein reimagines these rituals within private interiors, staging enigmatic scenes that reveal the fragile persistence of faith in a society marked by violence and ecological crisis. Break in Case of Emergency continues this exploration through surreal self-portraits, where fragmented figures embody suppressed emotions and catharsis.

With RAGE™, Franco Klein reclaims rage as both rebellion and renewal. Her red-hued images reconfigure cinematic tropes and cultural references, transforming taboo into agency and barren landscapes into fertile ground. Rage emerges not as an uncontrollable outburst but as a force.

ROSEGALLERY’s presentation at Paris Photo offers a rare opportunity to experience Franco Klein’s work in depth, tracing her incisive examination of contemporary existence across multiple series while introducing her latest project to an international audience for the first time.
